Testimonials

"Maestro de rend Peine is quite difficult to bit, he's very fussy in the mouth and quite strong at the same time, you need to be very soft with your hands but have the control quickly when you need it. I have found the Denney dual action bit really good on both counts its beautifully made and the spring softens the action making this an excellent bit for Maestro." Nicole Pavitt

"This bit has been a wonder bit with Acorado . The action of the bit suits him really well and he is happier doing his job. He feels a lot better when jumping and has a better way of going" - Dale Burnham.

"Since using the Denney dual action bit from the middle of season 2006 my fell pony has really improved,i had tried various other bits but nothing seemed to suit him and he resisted quite badly especially on right turns,he is now great to steer which has helped tremendously in cones and obstacles(only hitting 1 cone down in the 5 events he has been in your bit) and we are getting better obstacle times, his dressage has also improved in that he is now not throwing his head up during every movement to the right." "An article in the English Carriage Magazine first alerted me to the Sue Denney bit. Living in Australia we are remote to the centre of driving, so only by reading and listening do we find solutions.

For a considerable time I, as past rider (and with a daughter who used to compete regularly at eventing and dressage) had been searching for the dual purpose bit for driving. As in ridden dressage, the higher the standard we wish to achieve, the more complex the bit becomes.

So here, I thought , we have it ... the Sue Denney bit!

Emails later Simon sent me two bits to try.  First time on the mouth moistened and softened.  Second time, third time. But all a lot of trial, trial, trial to get the right height in mouth, chain tension, spring tension etc. I also had to make sure I had brakes, as my mare very susceptible to crackling sticks, noises etc, this I discovered I had, and with no throwing of the head high in the air, as with a Liverpool. Finally the "big competition" and at long last we had our long lost rythm back, flexing in the corners, soft in the mouth, obedient and a delight to drive.

We had our usual knockers of, "whats wrong with the Liverpool " etc, but we were top score on the day, well ahead of any other competitor, and the test  which was smooth, rymthic and a pleasure to drive." -Virginia Jones,  Tabletop, NSW.  Australia"

"I attach a photo of "Harry" competing at Farleigh Nationals wearing your super "Denney" bit; I just want to thank you for all your help & support this season, our first competing Nationally with Harry our Lipizzaner. As you may remember he was in a horse team, and was rejected because he was too strong....well, I can vouch for that! We must have tried a dozen or more different bits on him, before speaking to yourselves, he was a very similar case to your Roly, so you felt your bit may help, and I have to say that you were right. We tried it out at Farleigh, & he really liked it, he instantly wasn't nearly so strong. But the best thing about the bit is that it has re-educated him, he has got lighter & lighter wearing it. It definitely has made him a happier horse! We ended the season on a double clear in the cones at this years Nationals, giving us 4th place overall. Something that we could only have dreamed of at the beginning of the season. So, thanks to you both again" Jackie Ellis, Surrey.

"The 'Denney Bit' has totally changed my enjoyment of Carriage Driving, and my pony is most certainly much more comfortable and able to please. I am confident that having only come back into competitive driving last year after many years as a Back-Step Groom, I have a far greater chance of success at National level because the communication and control between ' Murgatroyd ' ( aka 'Troy' ) and I is now so much better.

'Troy' was an exceptionally difficult horse to find a Bit for, - my Harness Room is full of Liverpool Bits (straight bar, mullen mouth, jointed snaffle, tongue groove, sweet iron etc etc !), also a variety of  Mylers, they have all worked brilliantly with other horses - but not 'Troy'!! He was masterful at showing his discontent - nodding, tongue over bit, charging off, gurning ....everything!

It was very opportune that Sue Denney and Simon Willis were staying at my Carriage Driving Centre with 'Roly' and I had the chance to try out their prototype 'Denney Bit' on ' Troy '. Eureka !

' Troy ' now has his own 'Denney Bits' (the original, and now a similar 'loose hook' Bit. We have yet to fully test the 'loose hook' Bit in all three disciplines (Dressage, Cross-Country' and Cones) so will report back to this Website in due course." Pippa Jarman, Forest Farm

"I was lucky enough to be one of the first to use the Denney dual action bit and have had excellent results. Almost immediately I noticed an improvement with my ponies head carriage and he also had more impulsion......although not a miracle cure with hard work it has definitely been an asset." Ann Davey
